Third Breakout Room:

 

Pick one photograph to sit with.

​

Intentionally practice using the person's pronouns.  

​

Take turns going back and forth, one sentence at a time. The sentences can be related, or not. There's no one right way to do this, but the point is to practice using pronouns. 

       Person A: Xe came over to my house.

       Person B: I bought xem flowers.

       Person A: Xe loves the flowers. 

       Person B: Xir couch is very comfortable.

                   .......and so on. 

 

These sentences can be stories about this person, the clothes they are wearing, the activities they are doing, the items they own ("their purse" for example). Make up stories about the activities they enjoy, their family and friends, their work, etc.

Notice when you stumble. Meet yourself where you're at, and over time, try to reduce the stumbling and say the pronouns as casually as you would use "he" or "she" for a cisgender person in a sentence.

Each take 2 minutes to debrief.

3. What could you use more practice with?

Choose 1 other photograph with different pronouns, and repeat.
